Your Impact

With your help, we can welcome more students, faculty, and community members into the vibrant McKelvy experience and support programming.

McKelvy Scholars

Since 1961, the McKelvy Scholars Program has provided a unique home and community that prioritizes intellectual interaction between students with a wide variety of interests and backgrounds. Following faculty nominations and a competitive recruitment process, Mckelvy Scholars are invited to live in McKelvy House and participate in weekly student-led discussions with dinner on Sundays. Debates often last long into the night or the next week. Being a McKelvy Scholar is a great opportunity and honor as it is a stimulating, unique experience to broaden your perspectives and develop new friendships. McKelvy has a long history of being home to some of the brightest minds at Lafayette College and its alumni include Barry Wellman, Professor of Sociology at the University of Toronto ’63, Poet Laureate of Philadelphia Yolanda Wisher ’96, and the first female Rhodes Scholar from Lafayette, Victoria Puglia ’21, among many others. After decades of hosting thought-provoking events, the Scholars seek to expand support for McKelvy programming.
